It is illegal in this country for anyone to charge money
or money's worth for instruction in driving a
motor car unless they are licensed or registered
by the DSA.
In order to be eligible to apply to
have your name entered onto the ADI Register you
must be able to read a number plate at the prescribed
distance, be "a fit and proper person"
and pass the three parts of the qualifying examination. At the present time it is possible for a potential driving instructor who has passed the first two parts of the qualifying exams to join a driving school under the spnsorship of a training licence but, depending on the trainng that has been given to the instructor and the monitoring and support provided by the driving school, the quality of tuition provided by these training instructors can vary considerably unless they are regularly provided with a copy of their progress measured against an established Lesson syllabus.
